iPhone/iPad users... Play Song

Celebrating that 26 years ago I was introduced to home recording in a friend's house, whom was recording a song at the time for a

House Music record company called Dr. Moon Records.  His name is Tony Mundaca, a DJ at the time, for the legendary Power Plant which was a big house music dance club in the early to mid 80's.   In honor of that, I have always carried the House Music influence in my system and of course the impact of what that home recording studio had on me, I hope it is very evident after 26 years.

As an eclectic musician, I have never swayed away from any genre of music at two levels, listening and composing, and I hope that I now can make an little bit of an argument for producing any genre as well. Back in April 2011 I began recording a small project for a friend Sandra Treviño, who had requested some original music for her poetry readings.  Well I composed a series of little melodies and along with those came this composition that derived from a title track I had stored away.  You see, I make it a point to write the title of a new song at least two or three per week, so that when inspiration strikes I just pick a title that fits my emotions and begin composing to the title and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

This time it did and end it up with a small score that I recorded in the style of House Music titled, "The Poetry of House".  It is basic enough to have added guitars to it and a few cliche riffs and I also took extra caution not to "modernize" the sounds so it is very well within the range of the synthesizers available back in the year 1986.

There's some details which are valuable when reading poetry over this track; a real drum kit was used, and the tempo is slower than standard House for better flow of words. Not sure if it has been used publicly as Sandra has permission to do so, but if you haven't' heard it here it is! Enjoy and you can drop me a line with your comments and questions!  Long live House!!!
